Birthday Party, Sleepover and More proof that I'm not meant to co-sleep

We had a very busy and fun filled weekend that included a birthday party and a first time sleepover at Nana's (my mom's) house.

On Saturday afternoon we drove an hour up to MD to celebrate the 3rd birthday of one of my dearest friends little boy. Hunter had the best time playing at her house with all of the birthday boy's toys. I think it was like Disneyland for him. He didn't really socialize much with the other kids because he just wanted to play with everything.

"Really mom? A picture? I'm trying to play here"

He was very well behaved and after 2 1/2 hours we headed out and made the 20 minute drive up to my mom's house. Since we were so close to her house already and because Kristian was going to be out late hunting we decided to just head to Nana's house for a sleepover.

My mom was thrilled to have her favorite little boy at her house (and I'm assuming happy to see me as well) and he had a blast running around her place and playing with all the toys she had bought him.

Rolling a ball back and forth. Also, he loves stacking all his trucks and buses on top of each other.

He was up at bit later than normal since we wanted him to have a few hours to play with grandma and eat a decent dinner (in addition to all the snacks from the party). He finally crashed in my mom's bed around 9pm without a fight or any issues and slept straight through until 7am.

While Hunter slept great, I did not. I decided to sleep in the bed with him while my mom crashed in the living room. My child is apparently a bed hog. He was spread out all over the bed, at one point laying horizontally across it, leaving me very little room. So yeah, I didn't sleep much and it just reinforced why we don't co-sleep. I have a hard enough time sharing a bed with a my husband, I can't imagine having a squirmy, bed-hogging toddler in there with us as well.

The next morning we woke up and Hunter played/tormented my mom's cat while she cooked us a fabulous breakfast.

Hunter did so well at both the party and Nana's house and it was a great little trip for he and I. I know Kristian also enjoyed having the house to himself for a night and not being woken up at 6am by a toddler so it was a win/win and we will probably do it again when Kristian goes on his out of town hunting trip later this fall.

Glad you guys had a fun mini-trip!

That is exactly what happened when I tried to share a bed with Caleb at my parents this summer. Toddlers are crazy sleepers, I don't know how any co-sleeping parents get a bit of sleep.

Sounds like a fun weekend!

Totally agreed no cosleeping going on here. I could not imagine fighting Hayes and Chris for a spot in bed. What is the big bopper thing Hunter is in?

Sounds like a fun weekend! I don't think I could co-sleep either. I mean... I still try and get my husband to agree to separate beds! Haha (Kidding... sometimes...)

I can't sleep with Chloe either. We tried on a vacation a few months back and it was awful. Now a newborn on the other hand is a bit easier. Glad to hear he had such a good time at the party and at your moms! Good memories for sure!

Such a fun way to spend the evening while K is doing man stuff. Hunter is just the cutest. I've "watched" him grow up and I still can't believe how fast the time has flown.
I co-slept with Connor from 7-930 this morning because he is having some allergies and I thought I was going to die. Who know a 10 month old required so much room. Blah!

Looks like such a fun party and looks like Hunter had a blast!! :) I agree about the co-sleeping. Lids comesin now and then when she has a really rough night but we never get much sleep on those nights because she is all over the place!!!
