SWW

This Week I'm Saying So What If:

-I have teleworked the last two days because of the weather. I hate driving in snow and I'm not good at it. Plus I'm not really busy at work right now so anything that does come up I can easily do from home.

-Staying home with Hunter the last 5 days (including the weekend and MLK day) has made me wish I could be a stay at home mom. I'm loving this time with my little guy and I'm really not ready to go back to the office tomorrow.

-One of the main reasons I took Hunter out to play in the snow yesterday was to get some cute pictures. It's not often that we get a good amount of snow and I really want these pictures to look back on when he's older. I still get a kick out of looking at photos of me as a toddler playing in snow. On the plus side he absolutely had a blast.

-The other night we wouldn't let Hunter out of his booster seat until he ate at least some of his dinner. He's become extremely picky, especially at dinner time and bribing doesn't seem to be working. When Kristian was younger his parents wouldn't let him leave the table until he ate his dinner so we're working on that approach (within reason considering Hunter is only 2). Our goal is to get him to at least try his food before we let him get up.

-I haven't accomplished nearly as much as I should have the last 5 days being home. I have done some cleaning and laundry but I would rather play with Hunter and then just be lazy during naptime.

-I let Hunter watch two episodes of Mickey in a row last night so that I could make dinner in peace.

-I liked the movie Frozen more than Hunter did. If it had more trucks and buses in it than he probably would have liked it more.

I'm a picky eater, but I was worse when I was little. I couldn't get up from the table until I ate a pre-determined portion of what my parents made. I never got a special meal. There were some things they learned that I just hated and I didn't have to eat those, but I didn't get special treatment. When I got older, it was either eat what they cooked or bread and water. When I got old enough to make my own food, I could do that if I wanted, but my parents never made me a separate meal. I hear horror stories about parents who do that and can't get out of the habit. And a friend of mine dated a guy whose parents constantly catered to him and he would only eat pasta & chicken nuggets... as an adult... they could never go out to dinner. It was terrible.

Laura gets a separate meal because she either eats alone or Rob does because he gets home at her bedtime. We get home too late to eat together, but I sit with her while she eats. I usually cook on Sunday/Monday for her meals for the week. We do eat breakfast together quite a bit though. She's fairly picky, but she's growing out of it (slowly).

Luckily, we go to DCL to get snow pictures and winter sports. Laura's had the flu this entire long weekend so we haven't gone outside at all. I worked a partial day yesterday and am working from home today, but I'm bad at it. I really don't like it. I'd be a horrible SAHM. I'm just not motivated enough. Rob always said he'd stay at home if he could though. Not really an option anyhow.

Glad you've been able to stay home from work in the snow! I'm not good at driving in it, either.

do you think maybe he's just not hungry enough? i thought i read in a previous post that he grazes all day. when my cousin was having trouble, her mom told her to stop letting her son eat whenever he wanted and when she stopped doing that, he was more hungry for mealtime and ate more than normal because he was hungrier.

not that you needed this advice or anything. ok, you can just tell me to get the hell out of your face. :(

Connor has pushed all my buttons when it comes to eating lately. Is that normal? When do they stop and just eat??
I love seeing everyone's snow photos but don't miss it. I hate cold and wet so that pretty much rules out snow.
Enjoy your last day at home before heading back to the office.

Oh my gosh! Snow pictures are the best. They are so cute all bundled up ... I feel like we don't get nearly the same amount of snow around here as we used to, or maybe it just seemed like more when we were kids haha

My parents never let me leave the table until I was finished with my meal too. I am such a picky eater now and I'm hoping my kids won't be. My daughter is a typical toddler and eats mostly mac and cheese (LOL) but we are also trying to get her to try new things and try the dinner table rules. I thought Frozen was cute too!

Yay for a nice long weekend for you guys.

I think not eating your dinner must be a two year old boy thing. Caleb is the same way, but then every so often he will clean his plate and then some...but no rhyme or reason to what foods cause that to happen. Crazy!

I am currently in the decision process of whether to go back to work next fall or SAHM, I need a nice long stretch of days like you had to help me make my decision!

Glad you've gotten so many days with your little man! It's so hard to do anything during nap time besides relax. And don't worry it's not just Hunter, B eats a good dinner maybe twice a week.

That is great that you were able to work from home for a couple of days this week, and have that extra time with Hunter too!! :) Jealous of the snow play!! Oh believe me, I know meal struggles. I wish Lids would just sit down and enjoy her meals. Someday right?!

I'm glad you enjoyed your "SAHM" stint with Hunter.

And I also have an extremely picky eater, so I totally get you and your frustrations!
