Wax on Wax off

I have to admit something. I don't wax. Not my eyebrows. Not my legs. Not my lady bits. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of unnecessary hair and I take care of my business, I just do it via razors and tweezers. I've waxed my eyebrows in the past...I think the last time was for my senior prom. I don't wax my eyebrows for many reasons-

1. I don't like pain
2. It's another expense I don't want
3. I can't stand letting my eyebrows grow out enough to get them waxed

With all that said when I thought ahead to the wedding I figured I would probably need to bite the bullet and get my eyebrows waxed so that they could be professionally shaped. Since I haven't done this in ages I decided to experiment now and make sure I liked the results.

So for the past two weeks I've tortuously been growing out my eyebrows. It hasn't been pretty as the picture below will attest to. Last night I went to a nail salon and spa close to my house and 10 minutes and $10 laters I had nice, clean pretty brows. See below for the before (scary) and after pictures.

(Not my best look)

(BIG improvement)

I'm very happy with the results. So my plan is to continue to tweeze between now and May and try to keep the shape as best as I can but then before the wedding go back and get them waxed again. Kristian wants me to get a Brazilian wax for "fun". Umm yeah notsomuch.

Lookin' good! I must admit I am too lazy to pluck my own brows so I'm a waxer all the way! They're pretty past due right now, reminds me I need to get myself in ASAP! Never ventured into the waxing of the lady bits though...I'm too much of a wimp for that!

i'm a normal waxer but i must say.. i've been wax free for almost a year now. it's a bit scary at times but it does save.
as for the down under area. i've done it. i did it for a while too thinking that getting used to it like getting my eye brows waxed, the pain would go away. it doesn't. every single time i did it all i could think was damn i hate judy (the woman who did it. she seemed so nice...)
and i'm going to share something i probably shouldn't. you know how it sometimes gets bumpy and itchy after you shave? imagine that every where. that's it growing back. i say just be nice to your bits and they'll be nice to you. you don't want a honeymoon scratching like an eight year old boy..

I am an avid eyebrow waxer myself. I love it and after a long time doing it, I don't think it hurts anymore.

But the lady parts, NO WAY! I did that one time and I asked them to call 911 b/c I think I stopped breathing! I had to get drunk that night to wash away my pain!

Wow, that's an impressive improvement. I've never waxed because I'm such a sissy when it comes to pain but I try to keep up with plucking. After seeing those results though, the pain might be worth it for the wedding day.

I never wax, either. My skin is just too sensitive to handle it. For the wedding, I’ll be having my brows professionally tweezed, but that’s it. I know they’ll look great that way, too, so I’m not worried at all.

I have no shape to my eyebrows and am afraid I'd tweeze them all off in order to get them even so I don't mind paying to get waxed. I don't do it as often as they like though. I go every month to two months. My eyebrows are sparse (just scattered) and I have bangs.

I always tell Rob that I'd get LadyTown waxed when he got waxed so we're at an impasse.

I got my hair colored and eyebrows waxed the weekend before our wedding. I had a bad experience with waxing one time where they pulled off some eyebrow skin and there was a scab. Didn't want to risk that for the big day. I was considering are brazillian wax but then realized it would be my time of the month and did not want to have to deal with that!

I used to get my eyebrows waxed by a friend a few years back. One time she waxed too much and i nearly cried. It was traumatizing so for the past few years i've been doing it myself and you know what? I always get asked if i get them waxed. Woohoo!

Yours look fabulous before and after! For $10? Thats a steal. As for a brazilian, i've been tempted but i'm pretty sure i would cry, no ball my eyes out. That shit is painful!

your brows clean up nicely!
they look great!
i've never had a thing waxed either, i'm scared of the pain!

I've never waxed my eyebrows but have tried threading and loved it! if you can find a place that does it go for it. Its cleaner, less painful and doesn't leave your skin red the way waxing does. Your eyebrows look fantastic though!

Your eyebrows look awesome after! I haven't waxed anything ever either... I have fair skin/light hairs so I don't need to that frequently, but it would be nice to get them shaped and cleaned up for the wedding. Thanks for posting this :)

oh my goodness, you have gorgeous eyes and eyebrows!! you have nice, full and long eyebrows which every girl envies! looks great!

i either have my eyebrows waxed or threaded. the waxing doesn't hurt, but the threading kills me and makes my eyes water like crazy!

brazilian waxes aren't "fun," though i can honestly say i don't mind them tooooo much. it lasts much, much longer than shaving!

i'm so jealous--my brows are a sparse mess.

i've toyed with the idea of a brazilian--i'm a bit chicken though. painful lady parts just isn't where it's at...

have a great weekend!

For FUN???
In what world would that be fun???
LOL.

Eyebrows look fabulous hon!

I don't wax either. I pluck. Though I use an epilator(?) for my legs.

Happy weekend, love!

Looks amazing! I have never tried waxing, although I thought about it. Thankfully, my eyebrows seem to tame themselves, because I don't think I could tweeze either!

try threading. it doesn't hurt.

They look great! I'm like you...I can never wait long enough for a wax. I wish I had grown mine out for awhile so I could do it pre-wedding.

*eyebrow envy*

PS. Sorry if this comment posts twice! I just got a weird error before.

I do wax my brows... but I can't imagine waxing anything further south. Yowsers!!! The pain for the brows is bad enough!!!

Mmmm.....I have never waxed my eyebrows I tweeze...but I must say yours look AMAZING. Brows seriously change the whole face and you look great--not that you did not look incredible before. Anyhoo---I colored my hair about 1 1/2 weeks before our wedding and then I just shaved before the wedding. We did spray tans two days before. Great for the wedding and the honeymoon.

I did wax down south. I knew I would freak out so I put a whole bunch on at once so I would be forced to rip it off. I was screaming Kelly Clarkson and made my hubby help me ha ha. Ok..way tmi!

I will shut up now.

It's amazing how immune I've become to the pain of waxing. I think your brows look super fab btw!

Oh dear, the pain was worth it. You look gorgeous with waxed eyebrows. And talking about Brazilian wax, well, I am Brazilian but I don't know what it is. Would you let me know what did he mean in clear English? Hahaha.. You'll do great with this wax thing, I'm sure. Best wishes :)

Just stopping by to say hello and I thought this post was funny...I am also really surprised by all the other comments left by your friends and how many don't wax!! I get my eye brows waxed every 4 weeks! I have very thick brows and I HATE plucking...I think it's worse. I would highly recommend going to a spa though....I have seen too many people with burns from nail places....OUCH. At the place I go to they use some different lotions and creams after to help with the pain and redness and it only costs about $2-5 dollars more.

And I have never been brave enough to wax my lady parts....it just sounds way to painful! I am too big of a wuss to get my upper lip waxed!
