10 Tickets to Paradise

Kristian and I haven't been a "real" vacation since our honeymoon three years ago. We've been to OBX once and his parents beach house many times but not a really nice vacation out of the country in three years.

Well the rooms have been booked and the plane tickets have been purchased and this August we will be spending 4 nights and 5 days in the Cayman Islands!

My sister-in-law (Kristian's older sister) is getting married down there to her long-time boyfriend. Since it's a second marriage for both of them they decided to do a very small destination wedding in a place they both love.

We will be flying down with the happy couple and their SIX children (they each have 3 from previous marriages). Since all the kids are teenagers or older it should be a fun trip down with a large group of 10 people. My in-laws will also be meeting us down there.

There are only two things that I'm dreading- 1. The flight down and back (I HATE flying) and 2. having to leave Hunter for 5 days! Since I haven't left him overnight since we brought him home from the hospital this is going to be tough and I'll be honest I'm not looking forward to that aspect of the trip.

Hunter was invited, of course, but we agreed it would be better not to take him. Even though my mother-in-law would be there to help I would still be the one mainly taking care of him and having to chase after him the whole time. Not to mention having to be stuck in the room for two hours in the middle of the day for naptime then back to the room early everynight for bedtime. As I mentioned my husband and I haven't been on a really nice vacation in three years, this is our chance to spend some alone time together and be a "couple" again for a few days. Not just mommy and daddy.  Not to mention actually relax and sleep in for a change. Hunter will be 19 months old, he wouldn't even remember this trip. So my mom will be staying with him and she's thrilled for all the bonding time she gets to have with her favorite grandson.

We are very excited and very grateful to my sister-in-law who is helping us with the cost of the trip.

I can't imagine a night without Connor but it's gonna happen in November, when is is a little over a year old. I'm running a 5K in Dallas and instead of driving up the day of, I'm going to get a hotel room and stay the night before. Connor is going to be home with Daddy but STILL, I don't like the idea of not being with him.

So jealous of your vacation! I want to go somewhere warm and fun, but the husband won't get on a plane. Booo!

I know you are going to miss Hunter SO much, but it is GREAT that you and Kristian are going to get some time to reconnect!

So. Unbelievably. Jealous. :) We're pretty much guaranteed to stay in the country for at least the next year, with a newborn and all it'd be hard to fly away! But I have already been thinking about our anniversary (5 years this December) and maybe surprising the hubster with a 4-day weekend trip somewhere for the following year. Just to get it on the books, yanno??

I can't wait to hear about/ see all the pics from your trip!

I know it is going to be tough, but you and your husband deserve some time together too - and hey - what better place to do it than paradise!! :)

Wow gorgeous place! I'm quite a bit jealous.
I had to leave Chloe for about a week two different times because of work, so that aspect wouldn't be as hard for me, but hopefully it wont bother you too much. It's definitely not everyday that you'll get that kind of opportunity.

how gorgeous! and seriously, don't worry. your mom loves hunter as much as you do and they'll have a blast! enjoy your trip; you'll want to do another trip kid-free in the near future once you realize that hunter will be ok.
