Linking up with Shannon again for So What Wednesday!
This week I'm saying So What if:
-Kristian had to take our laundry to his parents house the other day because our washing machine decided to break. Fabulous. It's like being in college again.
-I want to get a job as a weatherman (err weatherperson??) It's the only job where you can be wrong All. THE. TIME. and not get fired. We were supposed to get rain and snow last Friday and got neither. I mean really? Don't they have like radar and shit to forecast that stuff.
-I want to get pregnant again just so I can have my boobs back. Does Victoria Secrets sell bras in the negative digits?
-This cold weather makes me just want to hibernate and never leave my house.
-I always wonder how much money the husbands of all the stay at home moms I know make? We have a hard enough time affording everything on two incomes and I see these SAHM living in huge houses that are perfectly decorated, driving nice cars and buying Starbucks everyday. Apparently we're doing something wrong.
-I finally started working on Hunters first year photobook and I'm already on page 17 and have only made it through his birth and first month of life so far. This book is going to be huge but I want to include as many photos as possible. Also, at this rate I will be lucky to have it finished by his 2nd birthday.
-I love that we have FIOS now instead of Comcast but I hate hate hate having to re-learn all the channels. Such a pain in the ass #firstworldproblems.

Haha that is so funny about having to learn new channels. I hate when I got o someones house and they have a different cable company than me. It is so confusing!
Oh man I totally wonder all the time how much money those guys must make. I want to understand how they make it all work so I can copy. Please let me know if you figure their magic out. Also I started on Savannah's first year book and I have a feeling its going to take me forever also. Are you using Shutterfly?
I can tell you that we are not like "those" SAHM you mentioned. We make it work but it's tough. I sure the Hell don't have Starbucks each day. I sometimes wonder how they justify their spending and shopping and whatnot when they have just one income. Must be rollin' in the dough.
I wonder the same thing about stay at home Moms. We NEED our two incomes.
I didn't do a photobook, but I have about 4 photo albums. I did photo albums for the first 3 1/2 years or so. I've gotten progressively lazier. I do have a little flip book that I refill as needed and keep professional portraits (which we do a couple of times a year) rotating. We do family portraits every other year. I've already given Rob the 6 months warning that it's coming.
Ugh. I have no idea how people do it with money. Part is that I really need to be making more, but I don't want to change jobs and lose all the benefits I've accrued. So much weighing of pros and cons. And it's not a good job market to just decide to be like I want to change jobs just because. The good news is we don't have to pay tuition next year and after school care is less than tuition so we'll save some money there. Yay!
I feel the same about the one income families in the USA!! Do you ever watch Super Nanny?? She always seems to go to families like this and I don't know what these husbands do for work!!!
I am trying to organize Alidia's first year of photos too. Sooooo many that I love!!! :)
Hope your washing machine gets fixed soon. So frustrating :(
This cold weather is driving me nuts, too, and making me more ready than ever to head back to the West Coast. Looks like we also have another chance of snow by Friday. Ugh!
OMG I say that about the weather people ALL.THE.TIME. Seriously? I mean HOW is that possible!? I hate them.
I'll share..my husband made $102,000 last year and I stay home with our daughter. The main reason I am able to do so is because income would have barely covered child care and our health insurance is through his work, not mine. We don't drink so we don't spend money on that, neither of us drive our dream cars but both are paid off, our house is a modest ranch style with the ugliest mint green countertops and flooring I've ever seen. We aren't rolling in the cash but we're comfortable and manage to still save for retirement. Again..the biggest reason is because child care is so expensive.
I know what you mean about SAHM's and income... but, in addition to wondering how much their partners make/how they can do it, I also can't help but wonder just how much debt they are in, too. =) That one makes me feel a little bit better.
Lol. This post made me giggle, so true!
I don't make much money at my job and I contribute very little to our bills (little in the big scheme but it's a lot of money to me since I make next to nothing) but I wonder what other husband's make too. I only work 2 days but I'm proud to contribute what little I do, and to be (somewhat) wise with my spending.
$86,000 mortgage on our house which is a 5 year loan. Cars paid off, not student loans, pay cash for everything.
