One word to sum up the weekend- Teeth

On Friday morning Hunter woke up extra fussy, which is unusual for my typically happy morning baby. I had a feeling that the swollen gums I noticed the night before were the culprit and when I dropped him off at daycare I mentioned that he was fussy and I thought his top teeth were coming in.

Well two hours later I got a "courtesy" call from his teacher to let me know he was still being extra fussy, not wanting to eat much, not wanting to play or crawl around and just laying on the floor and as she said "That's just not my baby". She mentioned he felt warm but didn't seem to have a fever quite yet and just wanted me to know.

Right before noon she called again to say he was still acting pretty miserable and had a fever of 99 and even though I technically didn't have to come get him it would probably be a good idea to get him home and start the Tylenol (they can't give him any, even with my permission). So I went to pick him up and found the teacher rocking him while he just laid in her arms with a sad, pathetic look on his face. He definitely didn't feel good.

I got him home, gave him some Tylenol, nursed him and put him down for a nap. He woke up in a better mood and ate lunch but after his second nap later that afternoon (around the time the first does wore off) he was in a pissy mood again and had a fever of 100.3. I gave him more Tylenol and just held him.

Friday night he was up from 12:30-3:30am and nothing seemed to make him happy. I finally brought him into bed with us and that seemed to help a little. Saturday he was a bit better and I still had to give him some Tylenol but he was able to go longer periods in between each dose.

Sunday and Monday he was more or less back to his old self and sleeping through the night again. The top two teeth haven't totally cut through yet but we can see them right beneath the surface and I'm guessing the worst part of it is over. Once these come in he'll have four teeth and look like a little jack o' latern.  I'm hoping that he'll continue to get 2 or more teeth at a time so we don't have to go through this with each and every tooth separately.

Despite having a teething, unhappy baby for most of the weekend I was able to get out of the house a little bit on my own to do some needed shopping and get an even more needed massage.

I'm glad your little guy is feeling better and that the worst is hopefully over. Cutting teeth must be SO painful. Glad you got to get away for a massage, too!

He must have been feeling better because in the photos on IG, he was smiling and looking happy!

After those first 4-8, they get used to it. Laura got a lot of Tylenol. She'd get the fevers, too. She didn't do a lot of chewing on teething toys or pacifiers, but she really liked teething cloths though. We found she teethed on wash cloths so bought her a little teething cloths.

TLC works best! Nothing soothes a fussy baby like his mommy.

I'm so sorry he felt so bad but hopefully the worst is over and all that extra loving from mommy and daddy made it better. And I agree that to keep coming in groups and knocking them out would be wonderful.

Ugh. I am over the teeth and we only have 2. I hope they get easier!! Sarah Sterling has been gumming on frozen washcloths. I think they help, or at least distract her to slow the screams down!!!

I know exactly what you're going through, except I had a super cranky baby for about two weeks, and her sleeping is still all messed up. I hate teething. Glad Hunter's doing a bit better now though. It's never fun to see them so miserable.

Teething sucks! Luckily Hayes has been too bothered by it, just kinda whinny. He has 3 teeth on the bottom and he is getting 2 teeth on the top right now, but the weird thing is that they aren't the middle 2 it is the middle right and then the one next to it. Hopefully the other front one comes in soon, or he is going to have one crazy crooked little smile.
