16 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 16 weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of an avocado.
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +3 pounds...the weight is finally starting to stay on.

Maternity Clothes: still no maternity clothes, trying to put those off as long as possible. I think I'll need some new bras soon though.

Gender: don't know...still thinking girl.

Movement: I think I may actually be feeling something! The last few days I've felt some gurgling/bubbly type of feeling that isn't a typical stomach feeling.

What I miss: nothing.

Sleep: Okay, not great.

Symptoms: I've felt pretty good this week. Still some headaches but nothing too bad.

Cravings: String Cheese and Orange Juice (not at the same time)

Best Moment this week: Feeling what I think is the baby and not just gas!

What I am looking forward to: Going shopping in my friend's storage unit, she has lots of baby stuff she said I could borrow. Score!

I didn't need maternity clothes for awhile. I just switched to dresses and the belly band if I had to wear pants. That said, I never had to buy a bigger bra - so sad because I was looking forward to it. I did manage to grow to a full A cup and fit into my already existing bras. Ugh so stressful because they don't sell nursing bras small enough for me so I'd end up disrobing every single time.

Exciting to feel the baby! I was oblivious until she was kicking me in the ribs.

I can't believe how time is flying. It seems like you just posted 15 weeks!

Wow, how exciting that you're starting to feel movement! I have a couple more years before I have kids, but I love reading your posts and those of other moms-to-be to learn about being pregnant and get excited about what to expect when it's my turn!

Movement is the best! I remember sitting in a chair when I felt it for the first time. It almost made me jump because I immediately knew what it was. So amazing!!

Mmm string cheese.
It's so great when you finally start feeling the baby moving, and you know it's not just bodily functions. Although sometimes if my girl doesn't move much in the run of a day, I start to worry. My Mom says not to do that. It just adds stress to the baby.

That must be incredible feeling little baby guac moving!

So cool, glad you're feeling good.

Also, I can't wait to hear about the baby names. I personally am not a fan of Junior names either--just not my thing but if that's what you go with I'm sure littlest Kris will grow on you, lol.
