Back in May I posted about our new little turtle that Kristian had found. Well we still have her and she's grown quite a bit since then. Kristian created a wonderful tank for her to live in with rocks and greenery which you can see in the picture below. If you look closely you can see little Weddette on the big rock sunbathing.
Once the tank was setup Kristian decided that Weddette needed a friend so he went out a bought a little frog to add to the mix. We named the frog Herpe because of all the bumps he has. We're strange I know. Below is a picture of Herpe.
Well at some point back in June or July Herpe decided to go into hiding behind the rocks and we didn't see him again. He never came out and without going in and taking everything apart we couldn't see him. Eventually we determined that he must have died and either the turtle ate him or his little frog body was still behind the rocks. I kept telling Kristian he needed to go in there and try to find him but I think Kristian was a little scared to find a dead frog in the tank.
Cut to today and it's now been around 4 months since we've seen Herpe and Kristian calls me on the way to work to tell me that Herpe is ALIVE! He came crawling out of his hiding spot this morning for a brief minute or two before going back to his little cave. We couldn't believe. We have no idea what he's been eating this whole time or if he ever does come out of his hiding spot when we're not around.
We are both so happy that Herpe is in fact alive and well and we view this as a good sign of things to come...unless of course he's really some Zombie frog which wouldn't be quite so cool.

First of all, classic that you named the frog Herpe. Only you would do that. And secondly, I'm glad to know that you are officially still a turtle parent.
hahaha how funny is that!
Um, I'm loving the frog's name!!! And those things can stay alive for months on months. My brother had a frog for-ev-er and when he went off to college we thought it had died at one point and were getting ready to get rid of the tank...only to find that the little sucker was still kicking!!
And seriously, I love the name.
LOL! Maybe he comes out at night and eats the turtle's food? Hillarious!
Herpe?!?!? I freakin' love it. You two rock my socks off.
And so glad to here Herpe is alive and well!!
he's aliiiive...he's ALLIIIIIIIVE!!! he's like youre very own frankenherpe. love it!
Dammit I want a turtle again! Glad Herpe is okay. I do have a question though - how do you keep the tank clean? When Dwayne was little it was no big deal, but as he got bigger he became quite the super duper pooper and I couldn't find a filtering system to keep up with his, uh, output. If I could get a decent tank setup I think I'd acquire another turtle.
haha I never see frogs or turtles around here! However, I must say-- that frog's bumps gross me out!!
That is truly hilarious. The whole time I was reading this I was wondering what he was eating?!? I like his name, too. In high school, my sister and I named a dog 'Cheater' after all of our exes who pissed us off :)
