On or Off

For those of you that are engaged or married or plan to be engaged/married in the future, what are your thoughts on wearing your ring(s) all the time. Do you? When do you not? What about your husbands?

I wear both my engagement and wedding band 99% of the time. I sleep with them on, I shower with them on, I exercise with them on (when I exercise which is rare nowadays). The only time I take them off is if I'm doing heavy duty/potentially damaging cleaning or other activity. Or if I'm doing something where I think they might fall off, like on our honeymoon when we went snorkeling. I left my rings in our in-room safe. We met a couple there and the husband's ring had come off and been lost while snorkeling. They had been married less than a week. The wife was not pleased.

I don't usually take my rings off for a number of reasons-

1. I'm afraid if I sit them down the cat will knock them on the floor and use them as toys and I'll never see them again.

2. I'll end up just forgetting to wear them. My coworker often forgets to put her rings back on after she showers in the morning. Her husband finally started hiding her rings as a way to make her remember not to leave them around the house.

3. Kristian spent a lot of money on my rings and I know it would hurt his feelings if I didn't wear them all the time. I know he would secretly think I didn't like them.

I have to say there are days when I'm just not in the mood to wear any jewelry at all including my rings. And there are definitely times when I don't feel like wearing my engagement ring which is bigger and sometimes gets caught on things or banged against something. I'm terrified of the center stone falling out.

My husband wears his ring everyday and like me will only take it off if he's doing something where he thinks it could potentially fall off.

So I'm just curious what other women do.

I'm the exact same as you. Sometimes I like wearing only my wedding ring, but usually it's because I'm going somewhere/doing something that might be potentially dangerous to my e-ring. Josh wears his ring all the time, which never fails to make me smile. Showering or doing dishes probably isn't the best thing for my rings, but I just don't ever want to take them off!

I wish I could wear mine all the time...but the setting is pretty high and it doesn't fit under the gloves I wear at work. Once we were married I tried wearing the band, but the constant on and off of the gloves loosened one of the stones the very first week. My husband told me NOT to wear them at work anymore for fear of losing a stone. I got a fake channel set band that I wear all week and put on the real deal on the weekends. I hate it, but it's just what I have to do. It certainly makes wearing them even more special since I don't get too all the time!

My husband on the other hand hasn't taken his off since the day I put it on.

for us, we wearing them out and about.
ME: I wear my wedding band all day every day- I take the Ering off at night and put it back on before I go out and after I have showered etc.

Hubs: He wears his only when we go out. He is ALWAYS busy doing something, fixing things... and his job is manual labor- we don't want him losing a finger, like we have seen many a times in our families, its scary.

so... this works for us b/c we grew up in families where everyone works the day sans ring and wearing them when we are out and about :)

I wear my engagement ring when I'm awake (unless I'm cleaning).. I take it off at night and put it on the night stand and then put it back in in the morning after I've showered. I will do the same with my wedding band.

My engagement ring and wedding ring fit together as a wrap set, which I wear anytime I'm leaving the house, except for exercise. As soon as I get home, I remove all of my jewelry. Stephen wears his ring all the time, except in the shower.

Um, so I just noticed the new title to your blog...LOVE IT!!!

And onto the ring debate. I actually don't wear them as much as I should. I'm more afraid that I'll lose them. Plus, I had an accident where the diamond became lose and if that were to ever come out I'd be a dead woman walking (though it is insured, I would feel terrible). So I get nervous wearing it in case it should just fall out. But then I also feel guilty because the hubby (can you believe I can call him that now) always catches me without them on and I know it hurts him just a little. So I've gotten into the habit of wearing just the wedding bands now.

I don't wear my ring that often actually. I will wear it to work every day (if I remember! So, 90% of the time) and then as soon as I get home I take it off because I work out right away. Then it stays off all night and I will put it back on in the morning after my shower. Or, if it's the weekend I may or may not wear it depending if we go out (I will) or if we stay in all day (I won't)

I am with you..I wear my ring 99% of the time. While showering, sleeping, etc, pretty much any time other than painting!

Morgan wears his all the time. I take mine off for the shower/getting ready. Most of the time when I'm at home I just wear a plain sliver band or just my wedding band.

Make sure you have jew'ry insurance and then you won't have to stress about losing them.

I take mine off to shower and to sleep. I have very thin fingers and the ring is a little loose, but I don't want to make it any smaller because I live in Texas and it gets HOT in the summer (fingers swell!). I don't want to sleep with my rings because I'm afraid I'm going to scratch my fiance with my diamond (I've done it before while napping).

i'm with you, at 99% of the time mine is on. i only take it off to shine it up ;) i like cleaning it and making it look extra sparkly.
my hubby takes his off ALL.THE.TIME. he takes it off to shower, when he coaches hockey (which is every day), he takes it off before bed sometimes because his hands are swollen or because he says it's "heavy"...ahaha. otherwise he wears his any other time.

I actually take my engagement ring off a lot when I'm at home.. I don't like to wash the dishes with it on as it turns around and around and really bothers me! :) I also take it off if I'm taking a shower or doing any cleaning. I even don't like to wear it when I'm sleeping. I have a ring holder I keep it in so I know it's safe, but I do ocassionaly have mini freak outs when I don't feel it on my finger and I quickly remember I left it in my ring bowl. :)

I always wear it when I'm not home, like when I go somewhere.. I feel so naked without it now!

I am just like you .. I wear my ring 99% of the time. The only time I do not wear it is if I am afraid it will fall off or I am cleaning. My husband only wears his on the weekend because with his job he isn't able to wear a ring, watch or long sleeves due to a finger or arm possibly being cut off. I didn't spend very much money on it and I am just happy he wears it on the weekend.

I am so very afraid that if I take it off I'll forget to put it back on or my puppy would get to it. But when I do not have it on I feel so naked .. My finger just feels weird!

I usually do not wear mine at work because it gets so dirty and scratched up. D, on the other hand, constantly loses or misplaces his ring; so I never really know when he'll have his on. It use to bother me but not so much now. Its whatever!

Funny you blog this today. I take mine off as soon as I get home along with all other jewelry. Because of that, I sometimes forget to put them on in the morning. Like this morning. I wear them more than I used to though. I did not wear my rings while I was pregnant and my fingers grew a 1/2 size while I was pregnant so I had to get them resized. During that time, I also lost my wedding band. Still haven't found it which is weird. Regardless...

The boy wears his ring all the time. He used to take it off to bake, but now he wears it 24/7.

He's pretty understanding or at least patient with my wishy-washiness.

I wear mine all the time unless I am cleaning (because I don't want them to get all gross), or at yoga (because I will hurt myself on them), or swimming or in the shower (because I have an irrational fear of my engagement ring diamond falling out and I don't want it to go down the drain or be buried under the ocean).

He doesn't wear his when he's at home. Which is fine with me. He's not a jewelry kind of guy. It always goes on before he leaves the house though!

I wear mine most of the time; i only remove them to shower, sleep, and if i am working out with weights. i wear them while running, though. mine are sautered (?) together, so that makes things easier. Saul wears his except when he is playing soccer or working out. he sleeps and showers in his ring!

Always on. Unless they are being inspected/cleaned or I am working with dough or raw meat (two things I absolutely gag at the thought of getting stuck in my diamonds, haha). Other than that they are on while I sleep, in the shower, while working out, etc. etc. etc. We sure as hell did not spend all of that money for me to not wear them!

I can certainly understand some situations where women don't wear them--for work (like nurses or other professions that require latex gloves or when I was prosecuting child abuse cases...those people were so indigent and would have hated me even more if I was flaunting a large diamond around the court room) or when you are pregnant :)

I keep my ring on 99% of the time. I love it and I think it's so pretty. I also love that other people know that I'm married by looking at my hand. The hubs, however, lost a bunch of weight after we had ordered his ring and we can't get it re-sized without buying a whole new one (it's tungsten). So when we were snorkeling on our honeymoon I would always tie it in the strings of my bikini (mostly because he would forget to take it off until we were in the water!) or when he does things like yard work he takes it off. He always wears it at work, though, so everyone knows he's mine! :)

I am planning to get married very soon, and I think I would love to wear my ring all the time. The ring is the most important part of my wedding accessories, the witness of the pious and special and and moment, and thus and should stay with me forever.

I know I'm a little late with this comment, but I wanted to weigh in anyway. :)

I think I'll be like you once I'm engaged/married, and I will wear my rings all the time. I currently wear two pieces of jewelry pretty much all of the time (even when cleaning, although I probably should take them off then!): my claddagh ring on my right ring finger, and my Cape Cod bracelet. I even wear my ring snorkeling, river tubing, swimming, jet skiing and parasailing (as I just did on my cruise) because I know it's not going to come off. So I imagine I'll wear my engagement and wedding rings the same way.
