Surrounded by wieners

On Saturday we woke up planning to go to the pumpkin patch but after a phone call from my in-laws reminding us of the Annual Dachshund Festival that was being held at the fairgrounds we changed our plans.

My in-laws have been in the past with their two dogs Jack and Lily but this would be the first time Moxie would be attending. She had an absolute blast being around "her people", she was in butt sniffing galore. Hunter also had a great time seeing all the other puppies. It's quite fascinating to see all the people there that truly treat their dogs like their children. For example, I saw a ton of other people pushing strollers however I was one of the few that had an actual baby in mine. Some people are just nuts for their wieners I suppose (and yes I group my in-laws and husband into this category as well)

Here we are checking out all the vendors. And yes my husband is wearing a shirt that says "I like to play with my wiener" It's one of his favorites but only truly appropriate at this event.

They even had dachshund races. I could have watched these all day, absolutely hysterical.

Later that afternoon my good friend Colleen, who was in town for the weekend, came over for a quick visit. Hunter is a big fan of Colleen and showed her all his tricks.

 

Unfortunately our family pictures that were scheduled for Sunday got rained out so we rescheduled for next weekend and if it rains again we may just have to use umbrellas and re-enact our wedding photo shoot.
