I win.

This past weekend one of the best moments of motherhood happened.

On Saturday night we went over to my inlaws to celebrate our nieces 16th birthday. We (all 9 of us) were out on the deck eating dinner. I was holding Hunter on my lap and our niece (the birthday girl) and I were talking to him and trying to get him to say mama. Well after a few minutes he said it! He said MAMA!! Of course only Carleigh and I heard it because everyone else was busy with their own conversations. We told everyone what had just happened and of course no one believed us so everyone got quiet and I held him and said "Say mama, say mama" and clear as day he looked right at me and goes "ma-ma"!! And cue the freaking out! I, of course, teared up and hugged and kissed all over him then proceeded to look at Kristian and say "I win!". After all everyone has been insisting he would say "dada" first. Hunter ain't no fool, he knows who to suck up to. The lady with the milk!

And yes I realize he was just mimicking the sounds I was making and wasn't really referring to me specifically as his mama but I'll take what I can get and since he hasn't done that with dada yet I'm counting it as his first word!

After the big moment. God I love this kid.

Aw, exciting! Congratulations on winning! I think Mama was Laura's first word. Dada was her second. Then, it's all kind of a blur. Banana was up there though. :) Priorities.

My nephew said Mama and then Laura and then Dada. Two weeks ago, he said April for the first time though and that made my heart swell.

Way to go Hunter! Smart man!

Jamie's first word was "car" so I guess we both lost! LOL

YAY for you! I hope Connor's first word is Momma. I mean, I did carry him for 9 months, it's the least he can do! ;)
