22 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 22 weeks

No picture this week. I've been sick all week and the last thing I need is a picture of myself right now.

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the length of a spaghetti squash (whatever the hell that is)

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +9 pounds. I went to the doctor's again today because of my cold/rash and they weighed me and I noticed I weighed less than last week, I guess due to being sick all week and not having much of an appetite.

Maternity Clothes: I finally broke down and ordered some maternity tops from Old Navy last week. They haven't arrived yet. At least I'm a small again in maternity wear.

Gender: Team Blue!

Movement: He's been moving a lot more and I can feel him pretty well on the outside. Feeling him move has been comforting all week since I've been sick and worried about how it's affecting him.
What I miss: being able to breathe through my nose...damn cold!

Sleep: Terrible this week but due to my massive head cold rather than the pregnancy. I feel like a zombie.

Symptoms: No real pregnancy symptoms, too busy feeling horrible from my head cold.

Cravings: liquids, not really hungry but very thirsty.

Best Moment this week: Going to the doctor today and hearing the heartbeat and getting reassurance that the funk I've had all week doesn't seem to have affected the baby.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing the little guy on my next ultrasound on Monday.

Ugh, sorry you're still feeling so sick. I'm glad it hasn't affected the baby and really hope you'll be feeling better very soon.

You can visit the Gap at Fair Oaks or the Old Navy in Bailey's Crossroads (maybe they've expanded to other locations) and get maternity clothes on sale. I got a couple of tops for like $1.97 no joke at Old Navy. The Gap ran a little too big for me and Target ran way too big. I had to stuff my nursing bra.

Hope you feel better! A spaghetti squash is pretty big! Maybe a smaller butternut squash size, but you scrape the insides and the pulp resembles spaghetti. Glad the little guy is unaffected.

Being sick is the worst when you're pregnant. I was really sick the day I went to find out my baby's gender. Hope you're feeling better really soon though! I got almost all of my maternity clothes from Old Navy. They had some great deals on summer clothes when summer first started.

Sorry you're still feeling under the weather! As if being pregnant doesn't make you feel exhausted enough!
