Time to Shop

Now that all the loan paperwork is turned in,  the inspection is done and our HVAC is fixed (turned out there was leak and the bank offered to split the cost of the repairing it with us) it's time to focus on the fun part of this whole house buying process....SHOPPING!

Since most of our savings is going into buying the home it doesn't leave much leftover to buy new furniture but there are a few items we would like to get sooner rather than later. Since we will now have both a living room and a basement/man room we need another couch.

Our current couch which isn't in the best of shape will be going into the basement/man room until we can eventually replace it. We decided we needed a new, nicer couch for the living room since that's what people will see when they first walk in. It's also where I will probably be spending most of my time since I'm not sure if I'll be allowed in the man room ;-)

We both have been wanting a big, comfy sectional. Something that we can both lay on and watch t.v. and with plenty of room for when we have guests.

Below are a few pictures of what we have in mind. The color and fabric are still TBD but we want something on the darker side that won't show stains as easily and will be durable against our pets and future kiddos. I'm also obsessed with having a chaise attached to the couch. I'm a bit of a t.v. addict so I need a comfortable spot to put my lazy ass while in DVR heaven. Since the fireplace and t.v. will be on different walls we want a couch that will accommodate a view of both.

We are going shopping this weekend and hope to find something we both like. If anyone can recommend any good furniture stores in the Northern VA area I'm all ears!

Ikea!

www.younghouselove.com they just did a post on the sectional that they purchased from Ikea.. and the nice thing about it is that all the sections are slip covered so they can be washed if it gets dirty.

Have fun! We got our couches at JC Penney in Springfield over the summer. We got a great sale price and good service.

O love our sectional. the best thing about them is you can rearrange them if you get bored of the layout!

I have no clue where it is located in relation to where you are. However, I can tell you that Value City has an outlet section- in the back, and whatever is in there you can buy as is. I bought my couch from them, and ended up getting my recliner for 75 dollars, instead of 300 in their outlet center. Hope it helps :)

1) Don't be afraid to shop for furniture online. I found some stuff in real stores and then went and found it online for even cheaper and had it shipped to me! Some of my fave pieces of furniture were items I found online!

2) My fave is the 3rd one down because it reminds me a lot of the sectional I bought for myself the very first time I was furnishing my own place.

3) I agree it's important to have a chaise for sure...but look into a sectional like the one I got: It had a chaise on one side, a recliner chair on the other side (the kind that pops up) AND a sofa bed in it! Super multi-functional!

Have fun shopping and so glad the HVAC was an easy fix!

Do you guys have a Value City down there? We got our dining room set and couch from there and both are incredibly awesome. I love the gray one you posted.
