Disappointed

Well it turns out that my oh so pretty invitations that I loved and was so proud of didn't necessairly deliver as nicely as they were sent out. Kristian and I stopped by my mom's house today to pick up some stuff and I saw her invitation on the counter so I grabbed it and when I opened it I almost started to cry. It literally looked like it had been run over by a truck! So much of the black from the outter part of the pocket invitation had offset and transferred onto the inside white part of the invitation. There literally looked like a tire mark was going down the center of the main invitation. My mom was like "oh I wasn't going to tell you about that" Umm what?!

So now I'm convinced they all delivered that way and all the people who told me they were beautiful are lying to make me feel good. I sent a text to two of my friends explaning about how my mom's looked and asked about theirs, they insisted theirs looked fine. I called my brother and forced him to finally go check his mail and tell me how his looked. He said he had a little bit of the same issue but not nearly as bad as my mom's. I then called Kristian's mom who had told me hers was beautiful and asked her. She said there was one small black line that had offset on hers but it wasn't that noticeable and she still thought it was beautiful. Ummm there shouldn't be ANY black lines on it!

It was all I could do to keep from crying/throwing a fit. My brother said I should take them back to Michael's and ask for a refund but I don't care about the money. I care about all the time and energy I put into these which was apparently for nothing and I'm embarrassed thinking about our guests getting awful looking invites. I realize that they won't think I sent them out looking like that (at least I hope) but it still sucks. So much for saving money and going the DIY route.

Obviously I haven't talked to everyone so I'm hoping that a large majority of these ended up being fine but I'm just pissed about those that aren't. I guess for my next wedding I WON'T be using the invitations from Michael's.....kidding (about the next wedding part at least).

Aw, so sorry to hear, but I liked to think every hiccup in the wedding process was a story to tell later. When you're married 10, 15, 20, 25+ years, you'll be laughing. Plus, you can always have a second shot when you print invites to the renewal of your vows.

Just keep in mind that you'll be married in 41 days and that'll make it all worth it. Eye on the prize. :)

I'm sure that didn't happen to all of them. Ask a few of your good friends and see what they say. Either way, I'm sure they were still just as beautiful on the inside!

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about this. How unfortunate! I would be totally upset, too!

I was planning on going the DIY route but since I'm creatively challenged with that type of crafting, I knew it would be a huge nightmare. There are many reasons people choose to go DIY - save money, they enjoy the process, can't find what they want already manufactured. But for me, there are certain things that I'm willing to blow the money on :) Just take it as a lesson learned. Next time, maybe send a test sample to yourself in the mail to see what happens?

I'm sure it won't matter though so don't stress over it. As they always say, something will most definitely go wrong regarding your wedding. With just 5 days to go until our big day, I am definitely trying not to think about what might not work out according to plan. You just have to roll with it.

Oh no! I would be throwing a fit too! But, I'm sure the majority arrived just fine, and what is really important is that those you love are invited and get to share in your special day.

bummer! i'm sorry hun.

but don't fret, they're still adorable. as long as people know where they're going and when, it's all good.

I’m so sorry to hear that happened, but if it helps at all, I think your guests who told you they looked beautiful really did mean it. I personally have tended to be much more critical of our DIY wedding items than anyone else. While I might notice every flaw, I think others tend to overlook them much more easily. Hope things go better for you from here on out!

Oh no! I'm so sorry sweetie!!! I do a lot of invitation mailings and stuff like that just happens. I'm sure it's not all of them though and i'm sure even with the marks they are still beautiful. And more importantly...your wedding is going to be beautiful!!!

they still looked beautiful, but really? no one gives a crap about invitations. They jsut look, and then toss.

You did a great job, and made beautiful invites and IM sure that only happened on a few.

So not cool. You poor thing! I am sure they weren't all like that.

Our engagement invites - we spent hours wax sealing them. Not ONE wax seal survived the post - it looked like a waxy lump of gum had been stuck on the paper - Pretty! Not.

Our wedding invites - turns out the ink when it gets wet runs. It was raining the day I sent them, the two that I saw on peoples fridges - water splodges all over them. Made me want to cry too.

Darn Michael's. Sorry, hon. Don't worry, people are just too excited about your wedding to even notice :)
