38 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 38 Weeks (2 weeks or less!)

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the length of a leek.
Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long.  He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. (Yay!!)

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +35 pounds approximately. My doc is estimating that the baby is around 7 1/2 pounds at this point. He's definitely chunking up because this weight gain isn't from over-eating, I really don't eat much nowadays.
Maternity Clothes: All maternity and even those clothes are getting small, if this kid doesn't come soon I'll just have to wrap a sheet around my body.

Gender: BOY!

Movement: Still feel movements all day long though not quite as active as before, I can tell he's running out of room in there.
What I miss: same stuff as before, mainly just not feeling so much discomfort ALL THE TIME.
Sleep: Let's put it this way, I would pay BIG money for one good night's sleep. I just hope I have enough energy for labor.
Symptoms: same as before-a lot of BH contractions, cramping, nausea, minor swelling, round ligament pain yada yada yada.
Cravings: No foods just liquids especially chocolate milk and sweet tea.

Doctor's Appointment: As I mentioned yesterday I'm only a fingertip dilated but my cervix is soft and thinned out, so according to him things are looking "favorable" just moving slow. I try not to put too much stock into the whole dilation thing because you can walk around for weeks being dilated and still not go into labor or you could not be dilated at all and suddenly have your water break in a Chipotle (true story, happened to my friend).
Best Moment this week: Finishing the nursery and scheduling an induction date. He will be here sometime in the next two weeks no matter what!!
What I am looking forward to: Starting 2012 with a beautiful baby boy!

Awesome! You do look great!

I think the only surprises I had at birth were, well, the ickiness of labor that no one ever talks about (and I won't on a blog), the fact my baby was furry and the fact that it took forever to my belly to go down. I kind of thought it would happen faster than it did. BTW, baby eventually lost the fur. :)

Yay! I am so excited for you. I love seeing our little baby on ultrasound--I have no clue how amazing it'll be when the idea of them coming out to meet us will be a reality.
