Weekend bullet points

This past weekend we:

  • Gave Hunter his first at home haircut. We figured we would give it try and save some money. Kristian did most of it using his hair trimmer and some scissors. We gave Hunter a lollipop which helped keep him entertained for a few minutes. He did much better than when we take him to a professional place and Kristian did a great job for a first time cut. There were a few uneven spots but nothing too horrific.

  • Shortly after his haircut my mom arrived to spend the weekend. I think she needed a Hunter fix. Hunter loves his Nana and one of his favorite things to do with her is bake muffins. He calls himself the muffin man. He is actually getting quite good at it and remembering what the steps are.

  • There was also some story time involved, since the weather was pretty nasty we couldn't go outside and play.

  • We decided to take advantage of the free babysitter and actually go see a movie on a Saturday night! We rarely go to the movie theater anymore and when we do it's always one of the early morning shows because they are cheap but we figured why not splurge for a change. Between the tickets and food and it was close to $50! We saw Divergent and I really liked it! I thought it stuck pretty close to the book and I really liked the first book. Kristian seemed to enjoy it as much as he enjoys any of those type of movies though I think he preferred the Hunger Games.

  • On Sunday after my mom left we did finally did our taxes. Thanks to Hunter and owning a home we were able to get a few deductions and actually get a decent refund back! Unfortunately it will all be going towards paying off the medical bills we have from Kristian's surgery.
  •  The weather on Sunday was even worse so once again we stayed inside all day but Hunter was a good boy all weekend. He really is such a joy and I'm so thankful I get to be his mama.

One of the Living Social/Groupon/Amazon/Goldstar has an AMC "sale" annually, and I buy a ton of movie passes so tickets are like $8/each. That's how I save. Plus, Rob doesn't go to the movies except once a year (and we didn't go last year) so it's not that expensive to only pay for myself with the girls. I'm holding out for The Fault in Our Stars for my Shailene Woodley movie. *g*

At that age, Laura was making pancakes with Rob every weekend. I think she can do it herself at this point if we let her use the stove. She claims I can't help her because you need a grown up to work the stove. I don't know who she thinks cooks her dinner, but I'm not allowed to cook her pancakes because I'm not a grown up.

We enjoyed the first snow day. The second had us laid up with a bit of cabin fever and getting on each other's nerves. I think we're all over the snow and snow days at this point.

LOL to the muffin man.

Also, love that he stays up on that step stool. I should try that with T. Normally when we bake, she sits up on the kitchen island. Not as hygienic. :)

Sounds like a good weekend! I can't believe how expensive the movies are nowadays. We usually only go to the morning shows to save money, too.

hahaha any time the inlaws want to babysit, we rush out the door in case they change their minds!

I literally JUST started baking with Chloe this past weekend and she seems to love it. It's a great way to entertain her. I wish my mom still lived close by to babysit. It's just not the same when you have to pay for a sitter. More often than not it's just as good to stay home. I miss getting out.

Oh how nice that you got to go out to a movie!! I miss it so much as we don't have a theatre here. Anthony and I actually haven't been since 2008!! Really want to go next time we are in Canada or the UK.

Aww Hunter's new haircut is adorable. I can't imagine Lids sitting still for us to do it at home. Luckily we have a bit of a wait as her hair grows so slowly. ;)

So nice that your mum came to visit for the weekend and help out.

Hunter's at home haircut looks great- good job! I'm dying to see Divergent- I'm happy to hear you liked it and it stayed close to the book.

I saw that the movie got HORRIBLE reviews and it made me SO sad because I really wanted to see that! Glad you liked it. :)
