SWW

Another week and another So What Wednesday!

This week I'm saying So What if:

-I can't wait to get the new laptop I ordered that my company bought me. One of the best perks of this job.

-I'm excited about wearing all the fall/winter clothes that I was too pregnant to wear last year. It's been fun mixing and matching my old stuff with the few new items I've bought.

-I was incredibly annoyed that our family pictures last weekend got rained out. Hopefully the weather will be better this weekend.

-After saying that I wasn't going to decorate for any other holiday besides Christmas I ended up decorating for Halloween and will for Thanksgiving as well. My mother-in-law brought over some decorations and then I just had to buy some more.

-I get anxiety having massive clutter and disorganizing in my house, which means I'm having massive anxiety right now since all of our kitchen stuff is scattered all over the house during the renovation.

-I'm not looking forward to all the eating out we're going to be during the next two weeks until the kitchen is done. I can already feel the extra 10 pounds I'm probably going to gain.

Surrounded by wieners

On Saturday we woke up planning to go to the pumpkin patch but after a phone call from my in-laws reminding us of the Annual Dachshund Festival that was being held at the fairgrounds we changed our plans.

My in-laws have been in the past with their two dogs Jack and Lily but this would be the first time Moxie would be attending. She had an absolute blast being around "her people", she was in butt sniffing galore. Hunter also had a great time seeing all the other puppies. It's quite fascinating to see all the people there that truly treat their dogs like their children. For example, I saw a ton of other people pushing strollers however I was one of the few that had an actual baby in mine. Some people are just nuts for their wieners I suppose (and yes I group my in-laws and husband into this category as well)

Here we are checking out all the vendors. And yes my husband is wearing a shirt that says "I like to play with my wiener" It's one of his favorites but only truly appropriate at this event.

There's Moxie with her "grandpa" and "cousin" Jack. My FIL bought a carrier for Jack who will now probably never want to walk on his own again.

Moxie getting fitted for her new harness.

Making friends in line.

They even had dachshund races. I could have watched these all day, absolutely hysterical.

Moxie loves her new leopard print harness. She's so stylish.

Later that afternoon my good friend Colleen, who was in town for the weekend, came over for a quick visit. Hunter is a big fan of Colleen and showed her all his tricks.

Unfortunately our family pictures that were scheduled for Sunday got rained out so we rescheduled for next weekend and if it rains again we may just have to use umbrellas and re-enact our wedding photo shoot.

40/40

Today marks exactly 40 weeks since Hunter was born. He's now been on the outside for the exact same amount of time he was on the inside. *Based on when I ovulated he was born at exactly 40 weeks, even though I went past my estimated due date*

After having Hunter one of the things I heard from numerous people in regards to losing the baby weight was that I should give myself at least the same amount of time to lose it that it took to gain it. Meaning that by today my body should be back to where it was pre-pregnancy. Granted for many women it can take much shorter or much longer to lose the weight but I think giving yourself at least 9 months is a good guide.

So where am I physically now?

When I was pregnant I gained 37 pounds. I went from 105 pounds to 142 pounds and on a 5 foot tall petite frame it was a lot. I am now back down to 105 pounds and have been for several months now. But it wasn't as easy or as quick as I had hoped and despite being back at the same weight my body certainly does not look the same.

When I left the hospital after 5 days I think I had only lost like 5 pounds which was amazing given that I had an almost 8 pound baby. I still looked a good 8 months pregnant and a week later on my first trip out of the house (other than the hospital) was asked when I was due. I was VERY swollen after the C-section. I was not one of those women that looks all pretty and skinny post delivery. I looked ROUGH. The weight did not fall off me like those freak-of-nature celebrities who look skinny again after only two weeks. That is NOT normal. You must remember those chicks have personal trainers, nutritionists, personal chefs, nannies and oh yes tummy tucks (you know it's true). Real women don't have those luxuries. A lot of them work full time and are sleep deprived and don't have time to work out for an hour everyday or have perfectly balanced meals cooked everynight for them. It's hard.

The weight came off, but it came off slowly. I admit I didn't/don't exercise much other than carrying around my 23lb gigantic baby and our stroller walks on the weekends. I just don't have time. Not unless I want to wake up at 5am. I lost weight due in large part to breastfeeding. But breastfeeding is a double edge sword. Yes it burns calories but for me at least, in the beginning, it made me FAMISHED! Seriously, everytime I nursed I was tearing the kitchen apart for something...anything to eat, even at 2am. So I was consuming as many calories as I was burning. Once that settled down I finally started to lose weight after about a month I started to notice a real difference and finally after about 6-7 months I was back to "normal". I did also have to eat better to help lose the weight.

But as I said, even though I'm back to where I was weight wise, my body ain't the same. Here are some of the changes:

1. My boobs are bigger. Not a LOT bigger (unfortunately). This is due to the fact that I'm still breastfeeding so who knows what the final bra size outcome will be once I stop.

2. My nipples. Without getting graphic, let's just say they don't look the same. Breastfeeding has taken it's toll.

3. My once cute, little innie belly button is not so little or cute anymore. It went back inside but is now all stretched out and wrinkled and ugly (in my opinion).

4. My ass is flatter. It used to be cute and perky. Not so much anymore (though my hubby still loves it so that's all that matters).

5. My hips are wider which makes my pants fit differently.

6. I am currently sporting hideous and annoying "baby bangs" that are due to the regrowth that is finally happening now that I've finished the post partum hair loss. That was fun as well.

7. Scarring- I now have a wonderful C-section scar on my lower belly. This really doesn't bother me. You can't see it when I'm wearing a bathing suit and it's a constant reminder of my child and what my body went through to get him here. And my V-hole stayed in tack so that's a bonus I guess.

8.  My belly. Yes my poor, formerly flat (though never a six pack) belly, is now very far from flat. Despite losing all the weight I still have quite a pooch, especially at the end of the day and could easily pass for a couple months pregnant. I do crunches several times a week but nothing seems to help. I blame the C-section. I'm sure if I went to the gym or did that damn 30 Day Shred/Torture DVD it would help but I don't have the time or energy. So I wear flowy shirts.

So there you have it. My very long and winded breakdown of where my body is now 40 weeks out. For the most part I am damn proud of how I look post-baby, despite the few nagging flaws that only I really notice or care about.

Ultimately the most important thing (which should go without saying) is that my body was able to grow this amazing little human that I love with every fiber of my being and regardless of what I look like now that's all that really matter.

Time for photos. This is the fun part (note the sarcasm).

This was at only 5 weeks pregnant before I had gained any weight or really looked any different.

One week before Hunter was born. I still can't believe I was ever that big.

The day we brought Hunter home from the hospital, one week after he was born. You can see I'm still very swollen and puffy.

A week and a half after Hunter was born. Still looking pretty pregnant and having to wear maternity pants.

40 weeks after Hunter was born. Still a bit of a pooch but not too bad. Also, you can see my awesome baby bangs that are growing in.

All About The Hubby

Today I'm participating in another link up that focuses on my most favorite (big) guy.

Introduce us to your husband! (What's his name? How old? What does he look like?)

My wonderful, fantastic, amazing husbands name is Kristian. He also goes by Kris. In fact most people call him Kris. I call him Kristian because that's how he introduced himself to me and because he told me that he likes that I call him that.
He is 34 and will be 35 this Oct. 22
A picture of him doing one of the things he loves most.

My two favorite boys

What is your husband's favorite thing to do?
Me! haha! couldn't resist!
He loves to fish, hunt, watch football, drink beer, hang out with friends, go to yard sales, use Craig's List to barter/trade, go camping, go to the beach, play with our dog Moxie and of course spend time with me and Hunter.

What does your husband do Monday-Friday?
He works in sales for a Fence Company and does a great job. If you live in Northern VA or MD and need a fence I know just the guy to contact :)

What was the FIRST thing you noticed about your husband when you met?
Physically- his height/build, then his smile
I had seen pictures of him online prior to meeting but I thought he was cuter in person.
What is your husband's BEST quality?
He is an amazing husband and father. In addition to that I love how outgoing and friendly he is to everyone he comes in contact with.

What is your husband's biggest pet peeve?
About me? That I watch "terrible" reality t.v. shows.
In general probably bad drivers and stupid people.

How does your husband feel about blogging?
At first he thought it was weird and he still laughs when I mention a "bloggy friend" but he knows it makes me happy and he appreciates everything I've learned from other bloggers in regards to wedding planning, recipes, house stuff and baby stuff. He also likes that I kept a weekly update when I was pregnant and loves reading them now that I have them as part of my pregnancy photobook.

What is something you do/can do that makes your husband feel loved?
Text/call him throughout the day and tell him how much I love him.
When I go grocery shopping I'll surprise him with a certain cereal or ice cream or beer I know he'll like.
Let him go hunting on Saturdays because I know how much he enjoys it.

Another Wednesday means another round of So What Wednesday!

This week I'm saying So What if:

-I bought us all new outfits for family pictures this weekend. I think it's an occasion that calls for new clothes.

-I let my followers on Insta-gram help me decide on which outfit to wear for family pictures.

-We bought one of Hunters Christmas gifts at a yard sale last week. A bag of stacking blocks for $2? Can't say no to that.

-I'm probably not buying my husband an official birthday gift this month. I let him spend a very large sum of money recently on an item he's been wanting for a long time so that is partly his birthday gift...and Christmas and Anniversary gift :)

-I'm IN LOVE with our new stainless steel, two door with freezer on the bottom refrigerator. Now we just need for our contractor to actually start the kitchen renovation so that our new appliances aren't sitting in our dining room.

-I'm torn between going all out for Hunters first birthday and just doing something really small and simple to save money. It's not like he's going to remember it or care anyway. Let's be honest a 1st birthday party is just as much for the parents (if not more) than the baby.

9 Month Stats and some pictures

Hunter did great at his 9 month check up yesterday. He didn't even cry when they pricked his finger to get a little blood to test for iron levels and anemia (he was fine ). He did cry a bit when the doctor was examining him, I'm not sure why since the doctor doesn't do anything to hurt him and is very nice. He then got a flu shot and only cried for a few seconds with that. Hell I probably will cry when I get mine. The doctor said he looks perfect, is developing right on schedule if not a little ahead and will probably be walking by his first birthday (Lord Help Me).

9 Month stats:
Weight- 23lbs 4oz (91st percentile)
Height- 28 1/2" (68th percentile) ...I hope he's not a shorty like his mama.
Head Circumference- 49 1/2 cm (97th percentile)....still has a big dome.

When we got home we took some impromptu pictures in front of the house.

Puppy Kisses

I'm so lucky to come home to these faces everyday

9 Months Old- 9/30/12

Dear Hunter,

Well here we are, another month down, and time still continues to be going by at warp speed. This past month you learned a bunch of new "tricks" and everyday you act more like a little boy than a baby. It's like you think you're a grown man or something. Daddy and I constantly say how cool and fun you are and how lucky we are to have you. And it's so very true. I couldn't be more blessed or proud to be your mommy. There aren't enough words to describe how much we love you little man.

Love
Mommy and Daddy

Weight/Length- Your 9 month checkup is tomorrow but I'm estimating that you are around 23.5 pounds and 28" long. I will update once we have your official stats.

Eating- You are still getting the same amount of milk/formula as last month. Nursing in the morning (and on weekends), three 6oz bottles of breastmilk during the day and an 8oz bottle of formula before bed. You are eating three solid meals a day as well. Fruit/Oatmeal for breakfast, Veggie combo for lunch and Meat/Veggie combo for dinner. You are still getting baby food but you much prefer to feed yourself and have gotten really good at it. We give you the baby food to keep you full but then I will always let you have some of whatever I'm eating (if it's safe for you) for practice. You have now had a lot of different table food including- scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes, pasta, breads, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, french fries, lasagna, blueberry muffin, pieces of fruits and veggies, turkey burger, pieces of chicken, dove (yes your father fed you some dove meat. sigh.) and beans. You also love baby puffs and yogurt melts. You do so well with grasping the food and chewing what actually makes it in your mouth. We will probably be weaning you off the baby food soon. One funny quirk is that whenever you are eating you "talk" or rather make noises, grunts, yelps etc. It's like you are talking to your food and will be quite loud about it. Very strange but very cute.

Sleep- Mostly sleeping through the night though the past week or so you've been waking up again once or twice but we've only needed to let you cry it out one of those nights, the other times you fall back asleep pretty quickly. Still going to bed around 8pm and sleeping until 6am.

Clothes- You've moved into mainly 12 months and even some 18 months clothes and jammies. A few of your 9 month outfits still fit but barely. The 12 and 18 months pants fit you well in the waist and thighs but are very long so I'm having to roll all your pants.

Diapers- Still in size 3 diapers but I think once we run out we'll move you up to the size 4's.

Appearance- Your hair has not only gotten thicker but is now pretty wavy and even a little curly in the back. You definitely seem to have your grandpa's hair. Still a very light brown/blonde that looks a little red in certain lights (you get that from me!). Your eyes are still a very pretty blue/grey with hints of green. You also now have five teeth! Two on the top (that have only started to come in) and three on the bottom.

Personality- You are still such a happy, smiley baby, especially when we're around other people. You haven't developed that "stranger danger" sense (except around your doctor, go figure) and I credit that to being around a lot of people at daycare. You actually are the most fussy when you've been stuck at home with just us for too long. You like to have a change of scenery after a little while. You get more curious by the day, especially with things that you shouldn't play with (like wires, which you are obsessed with). You love to play and laugh and explore and are just a lot of fun to be around.

Likes-
-crawling around
-climbing the stairs
-standing up against the coffee table and couch
-remote controls and phones
-any toy that makes noise
-being in the big bathtub
-being outside
-eating table food
-banging on pots and pans with a wooden spoon

Dislikes-
-Having your clothes and diaper changed
-Being stuck in your pack n play
-Being in your high chair if you aren't eating
-Baby gates
-Being ignored

Milestones-
-You have finally started crawling up on all fours though you still prefer the belly crawl
-You got three new teeth (the top two and another bottom one)
-You learned how to clap
-You can give High Fives on command
-You are pulling up on everything!
-You can walk along the side of the coffee table and couch while holding onto the sides
-You can climb up ALL of the steps going upstairs to the third floor
-You've outgrown the infant tub and are now in the regular bathtub
-Moved up to the toddler room at daycare

A few pictures from the past month:
