SWW

This week I'm saying So What if:

-We are not doing Elf on the Shelf this year. Hunter barely knows who Santa Clause is (and is terrified of him) and doesn't understand that he will be getting presents from Santa so I don't think he will get much out of the creepy elf that watches over him. Plus I'm far too lazy to do it.

-We didn't start decorating until last night. Not by choice but because our stuff was being held hostage in our friends storage unit while he was out of town for the long weekend.

-We may have bought ourselves several items while Christmas shopping over the weekend. A good deal is a good deal.

-All of the presents I bought over the weekend were bought online. I didn't want to go near a store. Also, Amazon Prime rocks my socks off.

-I hesitate to buy anything from a store that's not on Ebates. My next check will be the biggest one I've ever gotten.

-My kid is having more fun playing in the Christmas Tree box than he has with any of his toys, we may just return all his Christmas presents and give him empty boxes to play in.

-My husband wants to decorate the outside of our house "Griswold style" and I told him that was fine. I'm okay with our neighbors hating us for a few weeks :)

Thanks was Given

This year our Thanksgiving was a little different, in the past we have had dinner at my in-laws house with Kristian's extended family. This year we ended up going to Kristian's sisters house for Thanksgiving. His parents and my mom both had other Thanksgiving plans so it was "just the kids" so to speak. It was nice and laidback and my sister-in-law and her new husband made a fabulous meal. Kristian made a yummy Brussels sprout dish and I made a sweet potato casserole to contribute.

Hunter had a blast running around the house and playing with his cousins. He didn't eat much actual Thanksgiving food because he filled up on crackers and dip and dinner rolls before hand. But did find room for apple pie and ice cream. Go Figure. He also slept until 8am the next day! That alone was enough to be thankful for.

Hunter loves his aunt and cousins.

My sister-in-law and I unknowingly dressed alike, main difference is she's about 9 inches taller than me.

23 Months Old- 11/30/13

Weight/Length- I'm estimating around 31-32 pounds and close to 34". Will get official stats at 2 year checkup on 1/2/14.

Eating- Not much has changed, still picky with veggies and meat. Don't eat much during mealtimes but love to snack throughout the day. Some favorites are applesauce, cheese, cherry tomatoes, pretzels dipped in hummus and cheerios.

Sleep- Still going to bed around 7:45pm without any problems and waking up around 6:30am. Very rarely do you sleep past 7am. You sleep fine through the night and only occasionally will wake up and need to be tucked back in.

Clothes- 24 months and 2T. Size 6 shoe

Diapers- Size 5 both daytime and overnight.

Appearance- Hair is getting darker now that summer is over. It's more dark blond/very light brown. Eyes are still a green/grey combo, more green than grey.

Personality- Becoming very independent and great about understanding and doing what we ask (most of the time). You are so incredibly smart and have such a great memory that it amazes us daily. You are still full of energy and always on the move. You are constantly wanting to know what everything is and will point and say 'This?' all day long and then repeat after us when we tell you what it is. You are still my funny, sweet little boy and we have so much fun with you.

Likes-
-All the same things as last month- still obsessed with all things buses, trucks and cars. You love your mega building blocks and have gotten really good at building things. You also still love your ladybug pillow pet and your "moo cow" stuffed animal. You always ask to watch "Mickey" but it only keeps your attention span for a few minutes. Modern Family is your favorite show and you will sit and watch a whole episode if it's on t.v.

Milestones-
-Can now count to 10 on your own
-Know most of the words to "Wheels on The Bus" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Start"
-Know most of your colors but green seems to be your favorite.
-Talking in mostly 2-4 word sentences
-You say your first and last name when asked "what's your name"
-I've lost count of how many words you can now say but you can repeat almost anything we ask you to.
-When asked what you want to eat you will tell us what you want (it's almost always applesauce)
-You did your first real trick or treating.
-You met Abby and Gavin for the first time and got to see Santa at National Harbor

SWW

This week I'm saying So What if:

-I left work 20 minutes early yesterday to get a jump on the holiday traffic which I knew would be awful due to the weather. It still took me an hour and 40 minutes to get home (usually it's about an hour). I hate commuting in the DC area.

-I think it's shitty that stores are opening on Thanksgiving. Can people seriously not wait until at least midnight to buy shit?? I feel awful for those employees that need to leave their families early to go work retail. Personally, there is nothing I want to buy bad enough to make me shop on Thanksgiving.

-I can't wait to see Hunters reaction to the Christmas tree this year. I just hope he doesn't pull all the ornaments off or knock it over.

-As much as I like the holidays, they stress me out and cause my anxiety to rise, looks like I will be making use of my Xanax prescription.

-I almost peed myself in excitement yesterday when I found out we get to work from home the whole week of Christmas (except for the 25th and 26th which we are officially closed for). Not to mention I had already taken the first week of January off, so I get two weeks at home which means I can hopefully get some cleaning and organizing done around the house.

-This 4 day weekend couldn't come at a better time, there are several people I work with (not co-workers) who are making me want to punch my computer monitor. I'm just tired of dealing with people in general.

-My kid will be primarily getting toy trucks, buses and cars for Christmas.#boymom

If this doesn't wear him out nothing will

Over the weekend we had a lot of visitors, since it was the first really cold weekend we've had since last winter it was nice to be able to stay home but not go completely stir crazy thanks to having some friends stop by.

On Friday night our friend Bryan came over with his two kids who are 10 and 8. Hunter loves his kids, he's always fascinated by "big kids" and they play really well with Hunter. At one point Hunter was literally running back and forth down the foyer just squealing at the top of his lungs. I stupidly thought to myself "well he'll sleep great tonight". Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. I'm not sure if he was over stimulated or just had a stomach ache from all the candy he kept begging for but he was up every 10 minutes from 10pm to midnight then up for good bright and early at 6:15am. On Saturday morning.

Then Saturday night we had our neighbors over for dinner and Hunter had a good two hours of playing with his little girlfriend Jordynn. I love watching them play together, they share and laugh and play so nicely with each other, it's adorable. He definitely likes her the most. Once again I thought "well she wore him out so maybe he'll sleep late tomorrow". Nope. Up bright and early at 6:30am. On Sunday morning.

Finally on Sunday night, Bryan and his kids came over again along with my husbands other best friend who is in town this week from Texas. He came over with his 5 year old son so all 4 kids could play together for about 4 hours. Hunter had a blast. He's such a social little boy and I think he really enjoys having other children over to play with him. But again he was up and ready to go Monday morning at 6:15am.

I know I shouldn't complain because (with the exception of Friday night) he does sleep through the night without any issues. I think he just has an internal clock that goes off right around 6am. Not a big deal on a weekday but on a weekend it kinda blows. If he can sleep til 7am on a weekend I'm thrilled but it doesn't happen often. I just wish I had his energy. I get worn out just watching him run around and play and if that were me I would easily sleep until noon the next day. Not sure what kind of energy toddlers run off of but someone needs to find a way to bottle that shit and sell it. I'm sure it could put Starbucks out of business. Oh well, I've already planned to pay him back when he's a teenager but jumping on his bed every Saturday morning at 6am. That will be fun.

Five on Friday

1. I'm so excited and proud of my niece who got her acceptance letter to ECU (my Alma mater). Almost everyone on my husbands side of the family went to Virginia Tech so it would be awesome to have a fellow pirate to help me cheer against the Hokies. She's just waiting to hear back from one more school before she decides but I know she loved ECU during her visit down there.

2. I got Hunters birthday invitations/banner/thank you cards from Kristen at Little Laws Prints and per usual they are awesome. We are doing a Wheels on the Bus theme since Hunter is obsessed with school buses.

3. My goal this year is to do ALL my Christmas shopping online. If I can't buy it online then I probably won't buy it at all. The thought of going to the mall this time of year gives me hives.

4. I really want to go see the new Hunger Games movie this weekend. We only go to the movies once or twice a year and the last couple years it's been to see either the Hunger Games or one of the Twilight movies (my poor, patient husband). I just hate spending the ridiculous amount of money they charge so even the few times we go it's usually to the early morning showing which is even cheaper than the afternoon matinee price.

5. I just got a FitBit through work (as part of our wellness program), it's supposed to track the number of steps you take and how you sleep at night. I've discovered that since I have the kind you wear on your wrist it doesn't just track your steps but really your arm movements (even when standing still) so it's really not super accurate in that respect, though I suppose any movement/activity is better than nothing. Maybe I should wear it around my ankle to get a true reflection of the number of steps I take a day. Spoiler alert- it's not many.

SWW

This week I'm saying So What if:

-This is my first post this week.

-I finally started Christmas shopping and now I want to buy everything I see and will probably end up spending way too much money.

-I can't wait to give Hunter his big Christmas and big birthday gift. He's going to freak out over both.

-The thought of decorating for Christmas makes me tired.

-I made Kristian come home early from a hunting trip last week after Hunter threw up on me. I had no idea if it was the beginning of a long night of him vomiting and I didn't want to have to handle it alone. Good news is that he only threw up that one time and was fine. Bad news is that Kristian came home early essentially for nothing.

-I'm ready for hunting season to be over.

-We aren't spending Thanksgiving with either of our parents. We are going to my sister-in-laws house and spending it with her family. My mom is spending it with my brother and his fiancees family and my in-laws are going to Kristians grandmothers house.

-Now that it's dark and cold in the evenings Hunter has been watching more t.v. instead of playing outside. We still play and read books but lately he keeps asking for "couch", "Mickey" and "mama sit". I can't turn down snuggling with my boy.
